WAI is providing consultation in the areas of electrical distribution, lighting design, mechanical, and plumbing design for a new 75,000 square foot elementary school located in an affluent area of Montgomery County. To make sure Bells Mill Elementary School was eye catching; WAI geared the lighting design towards user tasks and were very creative and unique with the fixtures chosen. Typical classrooms for this building were provided with dedicated ventilation air from the energy recovery units (ERU’s), a small water source heat pump for conditioning purposes, a classroom sink, direct/indirect lighting, task oriented power and data connections and a specialized teacher data/power outlet.
The project uses a geothermal water source heat pump system maximizing the HVAC system’s sustainability and achieving part load efficiencies of EER = 30+. The expected completion date of Bells Mill Elementary School is December 2008.
